Rosalina's Gift Redux

Hi everyone! I've been thinking about rewriting this story for some time now, but I wanted to wait until December to write it. Let's hope this version is way better than the old one. Now before you read this, I wanna say something that I said in the original story.

Yes, this is a Luigi x Rosalina story and yes I kinda ship it. But I prefer Luigi x Daisy

Now, let's get on with the story!

Disclaimer: The characters belong to Nintendo!

December has finally arrived and everyone in the Mushroom Kingdom were getting ready for Christmas. The snow was falling and the children were outside happily building snowmen, having snowball fights, and making snow angels. Everyone was so excited to give and receive gifts and spend time with their friends and families. Princess Peach, the ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom, was planning on throwing a Christmas party for her friends at her castle.

Mario and Luigi, the heroes of the Mushroom Kingdom, couldn't wait to spend time and have fun with their friends at the party. They were returning to their home after buying a few gifts from Coconut Mall in Isle Delfino. After entering their home, the brothers immediately began to wrap the presents. The first gift that Luigi began to wrap was a flower scented perfume for Princess Daisy, the ruler of Sarasaland. Luigi smiled as he thought about his friend.

Luigi had feelings for Daisy, but when he finally confessed his feelings for her, Daisy sadly rejected him and wanted to remain friends. Luigi was a little disappointed, but was happy that the two were still friends. Luigi finished wrapping the gift and sat it under the Christmas tree. As he sat back down, he glanced at a photo on the wall of himself, Mario, and Rosalina. Luigi slightly blushed as he thought about the protector of the cosmos.

After Mario and Luigi became friends with Rosalina, Luigi began to develop feelings for her. But, he wasn't ready to tell her how he feels yet. He stared at the photo for a few more seconds, admiring Rosalina's beauty. Mario noticed this and chuckled softly. Luigi, hearing his brother chuckling, snapped out of his trance and blushed out of embarrassment.

"Luigi, why don't you just tell Rosie how you feel already?" Mario asked as he put a gift under the tree.

"I..I want to, but what if she doesn't feel the same? What if I get rejected again?" Luigi sighed.

"Bro, you won't know unless you try." Mario smiled at him. Smiling back, Luigi began wrapping another gift.

"You're right, Mario. I-I gotta tell her. But, I'm not sure when to do it."

"Hm… Oh! Why don't you tell her before Peach's party?" Mario suggested. Luigi thought about it for a moment.

"Well, I guess I could. Plus there wouldn't be so many people around to hear." Luigi replied.

"Yeah! It's perfect!" Mario grinned.

"Wait… What about the Lumas?" Luigi asked.

"Oh I'm sure Rosalina can ask them to give you two some privacy." Mario replied.

"Well, I hope you're right." Luigi said.

Luigi went out to do more Christmas shopping the next day. After buying more gifts, he only had one more person on his list to buy a present for: Rosalina. He looked around another store, but didn't really like any of the items in there. He decided to head home and wrap the gifts he bought and think. Mario entered the room carrying two cups of hot cocoa and sat one on the table near Luigi.

"Are you finished your shopping?" Mario asked before taking a sip of his cocoa.

"Almost. I still have to buy Rosalina a present." Luigi replied.

"Oh great! What are you thinking about getting her?" Mario asked.

"I'm not really sure yet. I haven't found anything that I think she'll like." Luigi sighed and took a sip of his hot chocolate.

"Don't worry. I know you'll find something great for her!" Mario replied.

After two more days of looking around the stores, Luigi still didn't find the perfect gift for Rosalina. Luigi sighed as he left the store and walked through the snow.

"What am I going to do? Christmas will be here and I won't have a gift for Rosie." Luigi said. As he walked through Toad Town, he spotted a Toad carrying a white bag. He reached inside and pulled out a beautiful necklace with a red pendant. The Toad smiled as he stared at it.

"Wow! That's pretty! Wait a minute! I got an idea!" Luigi rushed over to the Toad.

"Um, excuse me." The Toad turned around and smiled as he saw Luigi.

"Oh hey Luigi! Need help with something?" The Toad asked.

"Um yeah. I was wondering, where did you get that necklace?" Luigi asked.

"Oh! I went to Coconut Mall and found it in the jewelry store! My wife is gonna love this!" The Toad grinned.

Luigi thanked the Toad, said goodbye, and made his way to Isle Delfino. Once he arrived at the island, he went to Coconut Mall and went to the jewelry store. He saw many rings, necklaces, and earrings.

"Wow! Everything here looks amazing!" Luigi said as he looked around. After admiring some rings, he turned around to see another glass case with many different necklaces. Then, he saw it. He found Rosalina's gift!

"This is perfect!"

It was finally Christmas and everyone was happy and excited. Mario and Luigi returned to the Mushroom Kingdom after spending time with their family in Brooklyn. Peach's party was in the evening so they decided to drop off their gifts early. As they sat the gifts down on a table, Luigi glanced at his gift for Rosalina.

"Hmm. I could give this to her before the party. Yeah! I'll do that! I can also confess to her too!" Smiling, Luigi picked up the present and put it inside of his pocket.

"Come on, bro! We gotta go home and change before the party." Mario called out to him.

"Ok!" Luigi said and followed his older brother out of the castle.

It was time for Peach's party and all of the guests were arriving at the castle. Mario and Luigi, now wearing red and blue sweaters, scarves, jeans, and brown boots, left their house and began walking through the snow. Luigi stopped for a moment and looked at Mario.

"You go on ahead, Mario. I'm gonna go see Rosalina." He said.

"Sure thing! Good luck, bro!" Mario waved to his younger brother and headed to the castle. Taking a deep breath, Luigi made his way to the Comet Observatory.

When he arrived there, he saw a group of Lumas with Rosalina as she finished reading a story to them. One of the Lumas noticed him and waved. Rosalina sat the book down and walked over to the green-clad plumber.

"Hi Luigi." She smiled.

"H-Hi Rosalina." Luigi replied.

"What are you doing here? Aren't you going to Peach's party? I was planning on heading there after reading to the Lumas." Rosalina said.

"Oh, I'm going to the party. But I, um, wanted to talk to you about something." Luigi replied.

"Really? About what?" Rosalina asked. Luigi looked over at the Lumas and back at Rosalina.

"I-I think we should talk alone." Luigi smiled nervously. Rosalina nodded and the two walked to another area of the Observatory where the Lumas couldn't hear.

After making sure no one else was around, Luigi took a deep breath.

"Well, the first thing that I wanted to do was give you your gift. I couldn't wait until the party." Luigi explained as he pulled out the gift.

Rosalina smiled as she took the gift, her face turning pink. She unwrapped the present and opened the box. Rosalina gasped softly as she pulled out a necklace with a turquoise pendant.

"It's beautiful! Thank you so much, Luigi! I love it!" Rosalina smiled as she put the necklace on. She then kissed Luigi's cheek, making him blush.

"Y-You're welcome! A-And there's another reason why I came here." He said.

"Oh?" Rosalina said. Luigi looked into her eyes and smiled.

"Rosalina, I… I like you. A lot." Luigi finally said, making them both blush.

"Y… You do?" She asked.

"Y-Yeah. I've wanted to tell you for the longest time, but I was so afraid to. I don't know if you feel the same, but I just wanted to let you kn-" Luigi stopped talking as Rosalina pulled him into a kiss. After realizing what happened, Luigi kissed her back.

Soon the two pulled away and smiled at each other, their faces completely red. They didn't say anything for a few minutes. They just stared at each other, their hearts beating faster. Finally, Rosalina broke the silence.

"I like you too, Luigi." She smiled.

"Y-You do?!" He exclaimed, still blushing. Rosalina nodded. The two didn't say anything again for a minute. Then Luigi spoke again.

"A-Are you ready to go to the party?" He asked.

"Yes." Rosalina smiled. Luigi smiled back and held out his hand.

"Ok. Let's go!" He said. Rosalina took his hand and the two left the Comet Observatory, feeling extremely happy.
